Keep Your Peace
Thursday - March 28, 2024

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
since as members of one body you were called to peace.
 Colossians 3:15

An upsetting phone call, a rude comment, unfair business dealings. Each day brings a new opportunity, if we allow it, to steal our peace. Let's face it, we live in a troubled world and everywhere we turn, the evil one is waiting for the opportunity to turn our minds from the peace of Christ into frustration, worry and anger. He knows just what to do and who to send into our lives to bring us to the point where our focus is no longer on Jesus but on the situation that we are dealing with. But, we have to be wise enough to realize where this is coming from and stand our ground.
Be self controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith.  1Peter 5:8

We must resist him. That means with all of our strength, we have to get our flesh under control and stand firm.
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  James 4:7

With everything we have, we must turn our focus back to the Lord. Praise Him, pray, read the bible, turn on a Christian program, read a Christian book. Our focus must immediately turn back to Him. We must realize where this is coming from and turn our focus off of the situation and onto Jesus. It's not always easy but we can go to the Lord in prayer and ask Him to help.
Come near to God and he will come near to you.  James 4:8

Think about how many opportunities Jesus had to be hurt, frustrated, sad, worried and angry. Betrayed by His closest companions, ridiculed, chased by the devil, beaten and hung on a cross to die. What did He do? He prayed. And not only did He pray, He asked our Father in Heaven to forgive those who hurt Him.
Jesus Said, Father forgive them, for they know not what the do.  Luke 23:34

We must keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. One of the first proverbs I memorized when I first began to read the bible was Proverbs 4:23-27. I often refer to these words when I find myself getting distracted and losing my peace.
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips, let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet, and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.  Proverbs 4:23-27

Let us stand firm in our faith, not letting anything or anyone distract us to the point where our focus is on the situation and not on our Lord. Amen!
